This policy explains how love.com (“Love”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares and protects information when you use our website, apps and our AI matchmaker, Your Confidant, including when you talk to it by RCS (rich messaging) or text message.

The short version. We use what you tell us to help you find good matches and plan dates. We never sell your personal information. We never share your mobile number or your messaging consent with anyone for their marketing. You can stop messages at any time by replying STOP, and you can ask us to delete your data.

1. Information we collect

What you tell us: your name, age, location, photos, preferences, what you are looking for in a partner, and anything you choose to share in conversation with Your Confidant.
Contact details: your mobile number and email address, and your consent to be contacted.
Messages: the content of your conversations with Your Confidant over RCS, text, the app or the web, and when they were sent and delivered.
Sensitive information you choose to share: dating naturally involves details such as your sexual orientation or relationship preferences. We collect these only with your explicit consent and use them only to find you matches.
Technical information: device and browser type, app version, IP address and approximate location, and how you use the service, to keep it working and secure.

2. How we use it

To understand what you are looking for and suggest compatible matches.
To let Your Confidant talk with you, remember your preferences and help arrange dates.
To send you the messages you asked for, such as matches, date plans, reminders and account notices.
To verify you are a real adult, keep members safe and prevent fraud and abuse.
To improve the service and fix problems.
To meet our legal obligations.

Your Confidant is an AI. Its replies are generated by computer models, and a person at Love may review conversations only to keep members safe, to handle something you asked us to, or to fix a problem.

3. RCS and text messaging

Consent: we message you only after you opt in, for example by texting us first, starting a chat, or ticking a box when you sign up.
What you will get: conversational messages from Your Confidant about your matches and dates, and account notices. Message frequency varies with how much you chat.
Stop at any time: reply STOP to stop messages, and HELP for help. After STOP we send one message confirming you are unsubscribed.
Costs: message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan.
No sharing for marketing: we do not sell, rent or share your mobile number, your opt-in or your messaging consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties, except the service providers that deliver our messages for us.

4. Who we share it with

Other members: only what is needed to introduce you to a match, and only with your agreement. Your contact details are never shared with a match without your consent.
Service providers who work for us under contract and only on our instructions: cloud hosting (Amazon Web Services), messaging delivery (including RCS and SMS carriers and platforms), AI model providers, identity verification, and email. They may not use your information for their own purposes.
Legal and safety: when the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety or prevent fraud.
Business changes: if Love is merged or sold, your information would pass to the new owner under this policy.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

5. How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is open and as long as needed for the purposes above. When you close your account we delete or anonymise your personal information within 30 days, except what we must keep by law or to resolve disputes and prevent fraud.

6. How we protect it

Your information is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is limited to the people and systems that need it, and we review our safeguards regularly. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell you and the authorities about a breach where the law requires.

7. Your choices and rights

See, correct or download the information we hold about you.
Ask us to delete your account and data.
Withdraw consent, including for sensitive information and for messages, at any time.
Object to or restrict some uses of your information.
Depending on where you live (for example California, or the UK and EU), you may have further rights, including to complain to your data protection authority. We will not treat you differently for using them.

8. Age

Love is only for adults aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and we delete it if we learn we have.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you by message or email before the change takes effect. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
